How to Find or Search Files in Vista
The most common problem met when people start upgrading their computer systems is how to basically use the program installed. In many cases there could be difficult for everything looks familiar and yet is different. Yes, they are all Windows and such, but there could be some difficulty in searching for files. If you have upgraded to a Vista program, then you will realize that this is definitely a better upgrade but totally different from the Windows Explorer.
First of all, it may be easy to say that the best way would be to read the manual or to go through the tutorial on how to use the program. That is easier said than done, and most of the time there is no patience. So off to the good and straightforward.
Simply go to the START button. Click on it once so a pop up window will appear. That window will have a lot of stuff written on it. Ignore them. Simply go to the search box and type in the file name.
There will be another window that will appear in the place of the one that came out the first time you clicked on the START button. This time, there will be numerous files that may or may not be the file you are searching for. If the file is there and you want to open it, simply right click on the mouse. But if you want to know where the file is, specifically, left click on the mouse. Another window will come out. Go to the one where it says “Open File Location” and click on it. This will reveal where the file is, which drive and which folder.
For those who don’t want to right or left click, again just go to the START button and look into the RECENT ITEMS. Usually there is a list of what had been in use or were being worked on. If you had just closed the file and then didn’t know where you stored it you can also left click on the file and find out where the file is located.
The thing is, relax. And if everything else fails, read the instructions.
